Brandon & Sarah's Westin Columbus Wedding
Dogs & Patches AT THE Westin Columbus
If you know anything about Buckeye Sounds, its that we LOVE weddings at the Westin Columbus, and that we LOVE dogs (we have three black labs). So on those rare occasions when we get to perform a wedding reception that actually combines those two loves…..you know its going to be a great day!
And this reception and ceremony for Sarah and Brandon was just that, but with a ‘weird twist too’.
The ceremony was in the ballroom which always looks great. But this couple had a surprise - they were going to have their dog be a part of the reception. So after the ladies walked down the aisle, they had their dog come run down the aisle to get to the groom. He was hidden behind the curtain and came out just before the bride did. Everyone loved this, and so did I.
First Dance Song:
"Tennessee Whiskey" - Chris Stapleton
Father-Daughter Song:
"Youre Gonna Miss This" - Trace Adkins
Groom-Mother Song:
"You Got A Friend In Me" - Randy Newman
The guests then made their way foyer where we had cocktail hour music playing for them. During this time, the ballroom was changed over, and we had to set up the rest of our system and the decor lighting around the room.
The dance floor was very active all evening long. It was a great crowd that was really easy to please.
But two things really stood out to me at this reception.
The first one was a nice one. The bride had requested “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. Early November is usually a little early for me to play a Christmas song, but hey if the bride requests it….its going to get played. And it went over REALLY well.
Now for the really weird part, and I have to say I LOVE IT when these sort of unique things happen. We were told the that song “Patches” by Clarence Carter had to be played because it was a special song growing up for the groom and one of his groomsmen. So of course I played it. It was so funny to see them slow dancing together on the dance floor while everyone had formed a circle around them. Some of the guests were screaming “KISS! KISS!” at the two guys. Its different, but this was the moment that I will remember from this reception.
This will be our last wedding at The Westin Columbus for 2018, and that makes us very sad. But at least we went out with a GREAT RECEPTION! Thank you Brandon & Sarah and we trust you will have MANY years of happiness together!
