Buckeye Sounds has been the preferred DJ company at The Westin Columbus for several years, and it honestly one of our favorite venues in all of Central Ohio. The beauty of The Grand Ballroom is hard to beat.
We are VERY lucky that we perform at this beautiful venue a few times every year. Sure the beauty of the room has something to do with it, but its honestly the staff that works there. From someone that sees staffs every weekend - trust us when they say they are ‘a cut above’. We can't praise them enough.
Here are our wedding tips for receptions at the Westin Great Southern Columbus
1) Decor lighting looks GREAT in the room. Most of the times we will simply light the columns which makes them into a focal point. Most couples will go with the lighter colors, but don’t be afraid to go with the darker colors - they both look great!
2) Wedding ceremonies are usually held in the ballroom. Then your guests will have the cocktail hour in the ballroom. We can supply you music for the cocktail hour in the lobby by taking one speaker out there.
3) The most common set up is to have the head table in front of the stained glass window, but you can have the head table in the center of the room.
4) Likewise the dance floor is usually along the High Street side of room, or in the under hang area. But you can also have the dance floor in the center of the room.

5) Photo booth location. You might be tempted to put the photo booth in the foyer. This is understandable because your guests would be able to use it easily during the cocktail hour. However you never want to give you guests ‘an excuse’ to leave the ballroom - except to use the bathroom of course. Keep your photo booth in the ballroom to maximize the fun. And don’t forget that Buckeye Sounds offers the mobile photo booth.
